Prerequisites for upgrading an ASA high availability pair

Before upgrading an ASA high availability pair, ensure the following requirements are met:

• Review ASA and ASDM Upgrade Prerequisites for requirements and important information about upgrading ASA and ASDM images.

• The ASAs are configured in sctive/standby failover mode.

• The primary ASA is the active device at the time of the upgrade.

• The primary and secondary ASA devices are running the same software version.

• Connectivity between Secure Firewall Management Center and both devices is operational.

Important

When managing an ASA high availability pair in Secure Firewall Management Center, only onboard the primary (active) ASA. The secondary ASA is discovered automatically through the failover relationship and does not need to be onboarded separately.
